CCww, a leader in wireless protocol stack solutions, and Winity Technology Inc, a leader in wireless system design and integration, announced today that they have developed a range of GSM and GPRS reference designs for immediate licensing.

The reference designs respond to the strong need for highly cost-effective GSM and GSM/GPRS handsets with minimum time-to-market. The innovative Silicon Laboratories' AeroFONE(tm) single-chip phone provides the platform, onto which CCww has integrated and validated its resource-efficient GSM/GPRS stack. CCasia (CCww's joint venture with Winity in Tapei) has integrated MMI, flash file system, and a range of multi-media options. The reference designs come complete with latest style plastics, production line solutions, and sample BOMs.

GSM-EZfone

CCww's highly-optimised stack has been integrated with Winity/CCasia's MMI to provide a platform with the Silicon Laboratories' AeroFONE single-chip phone that requires no external memory, creating the world's first sub $20 Ultra-Low Cost Handset (ULCH). Licensees may choose to address higher niches using the GSM-EZfone extensive range of pre-validated IP to include: colour display with graphical MMI, DSC, FFS, FM, & MP3.

GPRS-EZfone

Exploit the most cost-effective GPRS BOMs in conjunction with the following validated options using Silicon Laboratories' AeroFONE 4905: high-res colour display with graphical MMI, hi-res DSC, FFS, FM, MPEG-4, WAP, MMS, 3D games, and IM/ VoIP solutions.
