STAR (Single-chip Terminal ARchitecture) combines an innovative, flexible and comprehensive eco-platform with NXP's AeroFONE™ single-chip phone, providing the most cost-effective and best time-to-market solutions for terminal developers creating modems, and handsets from ULC to high-end. STAR is available as a turn-key solution or as a software toolkit for immediate licensing. It may be represented diagrammatically:
STAR provides cost-effective solutions by eliminating the need for a co-processor, by executing MMI, Audio, camera (capture and display) and other multi-media devices and peripherals on the 'base-band' chip, such as NXP's 4904.
STAR-based products may be customised using an extended set of AT-Commands, enabling the user to configure and control the display, keyboard, audio, camera and memory/peripherals. Alternatively, object-code licensees may achieve extensive customisation using the approrpiate API. Where required, peripheral driver source code may be made available as a Software ToolKit (SDK).
STAR has a full-feature MMI, developed using Digital Airways Kaleido. This is available as an STK.
